Mt Stromlo and Mt Ainslie being so close to the city allows you to do a descent climb on a morning ride before work.
If you have a whole day we have included some longer rides which take you up into the hills and further a field to enjoy the rolling countryside west of Canberra.

Mount Stromlo is the must do climb in Canberra and its only a short ride from the city centre so easy to fit in before or after work.
Mt Stromlo is a 3.6km climb at a 5% gradient so a great hill to test the legs.

Crossing Murrumbidgee River to Uriarra Forest Return Loop
Ready to escape the city? This 80km loops takes you West of Canberra with views of Mt Stromlo to descend down into Stony Creek Reserve crossing the Murrumbidgee River before climbing up to a high point in Uriarra Forest.
You then enjoy a nice descent back down to the river via an alternate route to bring you back to Canberra.

Canberra City to Corin Dam Return
Looking for a more challenging ride with lots of climbing? This route will not disappoint with over 2000m of ascent along with some epic descents.
As you head West from Canberra you enjoy a 6.5km descent to Cotter Reserve as you cross the Murrumbidgee River. You are then challenged with 750m of climbing into the Canberra Hills through Gibraltor Forest to reach the high point before you descend down to Corin Dam.
On the return you get to enjoy a similar amount of descending!

Looking for an epic day out? This route takes you north through beautiful undulating countryside to charming heritage town of Yass. Enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat before heading south.
On the return you will get a thrill down the steep descent to cross the Murrumbidgee River on two occasions - which is equally steep up the other side!
